Tom Loten and Savin Perera each passed fifty as Notts made a productive start to their Second XI Championship fixture against Derbyshire at Belper.

On a rain-affected first day, with play not commencing until 2.15pm, Loten hit an unbeaten 58 from 127 deliveries, finding the fence on five occasions.

Loten’s half-century came off 114 balls, and Perera brought up his fifty shortly afterwards from 116 deliveries.

The left-hander’s innings would include four fours, and conclude on 53 off the last ball of the day courtesy of a pinpoint run-out from Mattie McKiernan.

Notts reached stumps on 135/1, with 41 overs having been played.
