Haseeb Hameed will lead Notts Outlaws in the Metro Bank One Day Cup in 2023, his second season in charge.
Last year, Hameed - the club’s vice captain - led the Outlaws to a knockout fixture in the format, with five wins from eight group stage games.
He has recently captained Nottinghamshire against Surrey and Hampshire in the LV= Insurance County Championship with Steven Mullaney sidelined through injury, whilst also having lead England Lions on their tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year.
He has the chance to take the Outlaws to a home final, with Trent Bridge set to host the showpiece for the third time.
"The opportunity to captain in the One Day Cup again is really exciting," Hameed said.
"I love being involved in the game and this allows me to do that, and I feel like I am learning from the experience I am gaining both in red and white ball cricket.
"This tournament in particular is special because we welcome some guys into the first team fold who haven’t necessarily been around for the T20 or County Championship. We have some fantastic younger players here, and the exposure they get in this competition stands them in great stead
"We make no secret of the fact we want to win the tournament, though, too. Developing players is important during that process, but we set out to be successful and with the quality we still have in the side, that is certainly possible."
