Ben Duckett has been included in a 16-player squad for England’s five-day series against India beginning next month.

The tour is Duckett’s first Test series since being awarded a two-year central contract in November, having played in all five of England’s Tests against Australia in last summer’s Ashes.

In that series, the opener scored 321 runs in nine innings, with a top score of 99 not out at Lord’s.

He will be joined in the sub-continent by three uncapped players at Test level with Surrey fast bowler Gus Atkinson joined by Lancashire spinner Tom Hartley and Somerset’s Shoaib Bashir

Former Notts pathway player Rehan Ahmed returns to the Test squad after claiming a five-wicket haul on his Test debut in Pakistan last December.
