Toby Lambert’s unbeaten 99 was the catalyst for Nottinghamshire U18’s 71-run success over Derbyshire at Lady Bay.
Lambert’s all-but-run-a-ball knock included seven fours and a lofted straight drive for six as the hosts racked up 251 from their 40 overs.
Earlier, Travis Holland (35) and Farhan Ahmed (25) laid the platform for Lambert’s assault with an opening stand of 40 runs, while Usman Minhas made a quickfire contribution of 26 from 23 deliveries.
Minhas was one of three middle-order wickets to fall to the spin of Pip Williams as the Outlaws set a target of 252.
In reply, Derbyshire quickly fell behind the required run rate, before openers Haaris Syed and Lakshay Sharma departed at the hands of Byron Hatton-Lowe and Travis Holland respectively.
Skipper Tom Mousley mounted the strongest resistance, but when he edged Ahmed behind on 48, the visitors’ middle-over impetus began to ebb away.
Byron Hatton-Lowe, Dalton Hatton-Lowe, Holland and Drew Owen all picked up two wickets apiece as Derbyshire were restricted to 180/9 from their allocation.
