A strong second team outfit secured a double T20 victory over Durham at Chester-le-Street with a host of individuals putting in eye-catching performances.

In two low-scoring affairs, the Green and Golds defended a total of 130/7 to win by 24 runs and chased down 135 with consummate ease.

At the start of the day, former Nottinghamshire seamer Paul Coughlin reduced the Outlaws to 32-4 after 7.4 overs.

Matthew Montgomery (22) and Dane Schadendorf (39) combined to provide the bulk of the visitors' total, with Matt Carter striking an unbeaten 17 at the end of the innings.

In reply, Durham made a similarly stuttering start with Jake Ball notching the scalps of both openers inside his first two overs.

Jamie Crawley’s 33 gave the hosts hope, but a brace for Samit Patel, three wickets for Montgomery – capping a fine game for the all-rounder – and a wicket apiece for Carter and Calvin Harrison secured a comfortable victory.

In the second fixture, Durham had first use of the pitch as their top five all made starts but failed to kick on.

Nottinghamshire, led by the returning Dan Christian (2-18), once again restricted the hosts to a below par total, Toby Pettman the standout seamer with figures of 3-24.

In response, the Outlaws lost Alex Hales early on to George Drissell, before Sol Budinger (35), Schadendorf (51*) and Patel (36*) guided the side to an eight-wicket triumph with 6.2 overs to spare.
