Sophie Munro and Rebecca Widdowson performed starring roles as Nottinghamshire powered their way to finals day with back-to-back victories at Welbeck.

Munro’s career-best 59 off 52 balls projected the Outlaws to their match-winning total of 123-5 in the opening fixture of the day against Derbyshire.

Widdowson then snared figures of 3-12, restricting Cumbria to a total of 90-6 past which Notts ultimately cantered with 5.1 overs to spare.

With Notts having won the toss and opted to bat in game one, Derbyshire had no answer to a match-defining fourth wicket stand of 81 between Munro and Amelia Kite (34).

Munro (1-9), Widdowson (1-10), Teresa Graves (1-11), Yvonne Graves (1-13), Kite (2-10) and Rhiannon Knowling-Davies (1-22) shared the wickets as the visitors fell 33 runs short.

Cumbria opted to bat in the Green and Golds’ second fixture of the day, only for Widdowson and Yvonne Graves (2-20) to lead the way in restricting them to 90-6 from their 20 overs.

Teresa Graves, having stalled the visitors with a frugal four over spell that cost just ten, then top-scored with 29 not out in response as Nottinghamshire’s place at Finals Day was secured.

Nottinghamshire will face Lancashire in the semi-final, with the event taking place at Northern CC on Sunday 8 May.
