Batters won the battle on day three at Lady Bay between Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, with five Nottinghamshire wickets falling for the addition of 229 runs and the White Rose replying with an unbeaten opening stand of 286.
James Wharton and Finlay Bean’s centuries for the visitors left them trailing the Green and Golds’ first innings score by 248, after Brett Hutton, Sammy King and Fateh Singh all added fifties to see Notts bowled out for 534.
Resuming 205/5, Calvin Harrison and Hutton added 30 more before the former was caught behind off the bowling of Wharton.
Partnerships worth 71 between Hutton and King, and 127 between King and Singh, saw the home side to a commanding first innings total, however, with King finishing on 88 before he was bowled by Harry Sullivan.
When Singh departed, caught at point, Notts lost their final two wickets in quick succession.
Notts then used eight bowlers in an effort to prise the breakthrough as Wharton and Bean amassed a strong response.
Hutton proved the most economical of the bowlers, conceding 35 from his 10 overs, but the pair batted through to ensure a draw would be the most likely outcome on the final day.
