Lucas Stentiford and Freddie McCann each smashed belligerent double-centuries as Nottinghamshire racked up a comprehensive 444 batting first in the ECB U18 County Cup, before bowling Lincolnshire out for 96 to seal a 348-run victory.
The pair remained unbeaten having come together in the fifth over for a 433 run partnership. Stentiford bludgeoned 17 from the final over to finish on 200*, while McCann brought up his double ton with a scurried single in the penultimate over, finishing on 204*.
Abneer Irfan then took three wickets opening the bowling, and off-spinner Drew Owen finished with 3-7 from 2.2 overs with the visitors bowled out inside 22 overs.
Notts had just 11 on the board when Travis Holland thick edged Tom Marshall to Joseph Thompson at cover.
But number three McCann and opener Stentiford quickly put notts on the front foot, blasting 108 off the 11 overs following the dismissal, including 18 runs off the 16th over.
Their assault never ceased with boundaries free flowing - the pair hit a combined 48 fours and seven sixes across the 50 overs.
Lincolnshire’s reply got off to a stuttering start as Savraj Nijjar was caught in the gully by Sam Watson off the bowling of Irfan for one, but Lewis Graham and Max Taylor staged a stabilizing mission.
It was successful until the fifth over when the former was caught by Owen off the bowling of Irfan, and regular wickets fell therefrom.
With four wickets required for victory at the start of the 17th over, Own had Alex Smith trapped in front as he tried to turn the ball around the corner, with the run out of James Mason sandwiched between Owen’s second and third wickets.
