Ben Martindale and Calvin Harrison provided stubborn resistance in the face of an impressive bowling performance from Warwickshire, before Notts fought back with a trio of wickets in the evening of the first day of the Second XI Championship fixture at Lady Bay.
Martindale made a swift 50, and Harrison a controlled 82 from 140 balls, as Nottinghamshire were bowled out for 218, with England seamer Olly Stone claiming four wickets in an impressive 11 overs in the heat.
Fateh Singh made a start, too, taking particular liking to England U19 teammate Jacob Bethall whom he struck for four fours and a six, before he was caught and bowled by Jake Lintott for 39.
The visitors reply got off to a stable start but the loss of Amir Khan in the 14th over - bowled by Matthew Carter for 16, preceded the dismissals of Rob Yates (16) and Bethell (14) to leave the Bears 92/3 at close.
