A captain’s knock from Matthew Montgomery steered Nottinghamshire’s Second XI to a seven wicket success over Lancashire at Southport.
The right-hander patiently crafted an unbeaten 47 - enjoying substantial partnerships of 54 with Sol Budinger (42), 55 with Dane Schadendorf (29) and an unbroken 50 with Calvin Harrison (39*) - as the visitors surpassed their 161 run target in 43.3 overs.
Toby Pettman and Harrison had earlier taken a wicket apiece to take their respective match hauls to 7-105 and 8-96 as the final three wickets of the hosts’ innings fell for the addition of 74 during the course of the morning; 196 all out.
