A blistering century from opener Travis Holland set up a comfortable 76-run victory for Nottinghamshire’s U18s over Warwickshire at Lady Bay.
Holland’s 103-ball stay at the crease yielded 137 runs as Notts sped to 373/4 from their 50-over allocation.
The right-hander was in merciless mood, hitting 18 fours and smashing five sixes – a pair of lofted drives off Shailan Srikanthan and Mohammed Umar Shaikh the pick of the bunch.
Initially supported by Lucas Stentiford (22), Holland shared a 161-run stand with Qundeel Haider, who hit three fours and one maximum in his 78-ball 59.
And the tempo was maintained after the duo departed, as Ben Wilcox and Freddie McCann compiled a 106-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Captain Wilcox’s run-a-ball 44 was brought to an end by Felix Haines, while McCann continued to find the boundary with impunity.
The left-hander’s own unbeaten 44-ball stay produced 82 runs, clearing the ropes on six occasions, while Fateh Singh provided a further 12 runs to the Outlaws’ cause.
In reply, Warwickshire almost immediately lost opener Amir Khan, who holed out in the second over off Byron Hatton-Lowe for 4.
Hamzah Shaikh and Isaac Mohammed were able to rebuild somewhat, before their century stand was curtailed by the removal of the latter by McCann for 65.
Farhan Ahmed would see off Shaikh for 67 as the Bears looked to keep pace with a fearsome required run rate, before fourth-wicket pair Yusuf Khalil and Daniyal Khan compiled an 80-run stand.
Khalil perished off McCann for 51 to leave Warwickshire 239/4 – and the visitors would only muster another 58 runs before being dismissed.
McCann continued to run through the Bears’ middle order, accounting for George Maddy (10) and Khan (67), before Faizan Minhas picked up his first with the yorking of Mohammed Umar Shaikh.
By now, the run-chase was out of the question, and after Abneer Irfan pinned Qasim Sohail (13), Minhas completed the rout with the scalps of Felix Haines (1) and M Abubakar (0).
