Toby Pettman sealed victory by an innings and 19 runs with a five-wicket haul on day four of Notts' Second Eleven Championship clash against Northamptonshire at Lady Bay.

Having piled on a mammoth 506 for six declared in their first innings, Notts bowled the visitors out for 160 and enforced the follow-on to have them 233 for four at the close of day three.

Resuming 113 runs in arrears, Northants added 32, courtesy of Josh Cobb and Olly Jeffries' partnership, but lost three wickets whilst on 265.

The first fell when Zain Latif had Jeffries caught at short leg, before Pettman dismissed Cobb when he clipped to mid-wicket for 113 and Henry Warren, caught by Evision, for a four ball duck.

Rohan Mehmi and Freddie Heldreich combined for a stay of resistance worth 45, before they fell within eight overs of each other to Matt Carter and Tom Barber respectively, before Pettman sealed his five-fer and the match by trapping Charlie Hood leg before wicket.

The Second XI will play their final fixture of the season against Leicestershire at Kibworth Cricket Club on Monday.
