Ben Slater has been named Nottinghamshire’s Royal London Cup Player of the Season.
Slater extended his formidable List A record over the course of the 2021 Royal London Cup campaign, scoring 395 runs across his eight innings at an average of 56.42, finishing the season as Notts’ top run scorer.
He was the sixth-highest scorer in the 2021 edition of the competition, having played fewer innings than any of those who scored more.
The opener also reached fifty on four of his visits to the crease with a strike rate of 90.80 as Notts racked up the third-best net run rate in the group stages.
Slater has developed a penchant for the 50-over format through his career, with an average of 55.72 across his 41 innings, and led a youthful Notts side in 2021 who finished two points from quarter-final qualification, with adverse weather hampering the Outlaws’ progress.
The left-hander was his county's leading run-scorer in all formats in 2021, with Slater leading the County Championship charts and with 837 runs, and contributing 69 runs across three Vitality Blast innings.
He joins Fateh Singh (Charles Vernon Price Memorial Award), Liam Patterson-White (Emerging Pro Player of the Season) and Luke Fletcher (Player of the Season) in receiving an end-of-season honour.
