Nottinghamshire opener Haseeb Hameed has been called up by England as top-order cover ahead of the two match Test series against New Zealand, beginning at Lord’s next week.
Hameed has scored 474 runs at an average of 52.66 in the LV=Insurance County Championship this season, including twin hundreds against Worcestershire at New Road and two further fifties.
The right-hander joined the club ahead of the 2020 season and returned three half centuries in seven innings during his first year.
The Bolton-born batsman will join up with the England squad at their London base on completion of Nottinghamshire’s fixture against Warwickshire this week, partnering Stuart Broad as Notts representatives in the international squad.
