Jack Leaning has signed for Trent Rockets as a temporary Covid replacement for Steven Mullaney.
The 27-year-old has over 2,500 white-ball runs to his name, including two centuries and five half-centuries, with a career-best score of 131*.
Having spent his formative years at Yorkshire, he made the move to Kent at the culmination of the 2019 season.
In his most recent Vitality Blast campaign the right-hander was the Spitfires’ third highest run-scorer with 287 at 35.87, including an unbeaten 81*.
Mullaney was ruled out of the Rockets’ second home fixture after being identified as a close contact of members of the support staff who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
Leaning’s contract with the side will see him cover for the away trips to London Spirit (Thursday) and Birmingham Phoenix (Sunday).
