Unbeaten half-centuries from Brooke Guest and Matt Critchley eased Derbyshire to a Second XI Championship victory at Notts Sports Club today.
With the visitors requiring 169 to win on the game’s final day, a youthful Nottinghamshire attack began on the front foot as James Hayes dismantled Tom Wood’s stumps for four, and Harry Came was trapped lbw by Toby Pettman.
The visitors, however, recovered from 22-2 to chase down their target without further damage with Brooke Guest finishing unbeaten on 75.
Matt Critchley, who captained Derbyshire’s First XI in the absence of Billy Godleman earlier in the season, scored 69 as his side surpassed their victory total after 38 overs of play.
