Hosted by Trent Bridge sponsors, John Pye Auctions, the auction is benefiting local charities up and down the country as part of cricket’s co-ordinated response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
All 18 counties, the ECB, the PCA and the MCC have got involved to donate prizes and nominate a charitable cause to receive the proceeds for their lots.
At the time of writing the combined total raised is over £25,000 and John Pye’s Business Development Manager, Sheldon Miller, expects that total to increase sharply in the final hours.
“This is the most unique sport auction we have ever held,” said Miller.
“The speed at which the cricket family has come together, to throw their full support behind this, has been incredibly impressive.
“At all levels, cricket has a community support element, which this auction highlights, and the final result is going to be a tremendous benefit to so many key community charities.
“We would anticipate, in the last four hours, to see a notable increase in activity so we would encourage everybody to not miss out on their chance to bid.”
Having hosted two prior auctions across their range of sites, the team at John Pye are no stranger to the generosity of the public during this difficult time.
However, the Together Through This Test auction has already raced past totals raised in the previous efforts, and Miller says that is testament to the cricket family.
“With the players taking the time to push it on their platforms, as well as the clubs and the ECB, it has reached a combined audience of over three million people on social media,” said Miller.
“It is going to do a tremendous amount of good up and down the country and we’re looking forward to seeing what the final result is going to be.
“Everybody in the cricketing world have volunteered their time and effort to make sure that all monies raised will go directly to the nominated charities.
“It would be nice to build on this momentum and hold an annual cricket charity auction moving forward.”
