Alex Hales has been picked up by Sydney Thunder for this winter’s Big Bash League campaign.
The opener is set to take part in his fourth season in the Australian 20-over tournament, and first since 2014/15, having previously appeared for Adelaide Strikers, Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades.
Hales, currently plying his trade in the Carribean Premier League with Barbados Tridents, enjoyed another successful summer in green and gold in the 2019 Vitality Blast.
The 30-year-old topped the run-scoring charts for the Outlaws, notching 418 runs and hitting five half-centuries. The right-hander’s efforts saw him named Notts’ T20 Player of the Season.
Sydney Thunder’s tournament begins on Tuesday 17 December, when they face Brisbane Heat in the BBL curtain-raiser.
The group stages will conclude at the end of January, before the top five sides take part in play-offs to determine which two will progress to the BBL Final on Saturday 8 February.
