Nottinghamshire’s Second XI made early inroads into the Leicestershire line-up as play finally got underway on day two of their Second XI Championship clash.
After the entirety of day one was lost to the weather, Notts made the unsurprising decision to field first when they won the toss under heavy skies.
And Jack Blatherwick quickly made the first breakthrough – although he was indebted to the athletic fielding of Sam Hall, who took a one-handed catch to remove Harry Swindells for 13.
Swindells’ fellow opener Hassan Azad was dismissed by Zak Chappell for 25, before Luke Wood chipped in with a wicket after lunch as he trapped Aadil Ali (16).
The rains returned shortly after the interval – and with conditions not improving, play for the day was called off with Leicestershire 94-3.
