A scintillating century from Liam Patterson-White helped the Nottinghamshire Academy to a comprehensive victory over Worcestershire at Lady Bay.

The left-hander put the visiting attack to the sword, hitting fourteen fours and nine sixes in a 91-ball knock of 145.

Patterson-White arrived with the score 113-2 after fewer than 13 overs, with Sol Budinger and Joey Evison dovetailing nicely in a stand of 100 for the second wicket.

Budinger’s brutal 41-ball 81 was brought to an end by Matt Davis, but Evison continued in Patterson-White’s company until he was castled by Rohan Hesketh for 64.

Notts posted a mammoth 368 all out from 49 overs, and any hopes Worcestershire had of overhauling the total were dealt a huge blow when Nick Kimber removed Callum Lea and Riecko Parker-Cole – both for ducks – inside the first over.

And the visitors were soon in disarray inside ten overs, Ben Panter accounting for Oli Casswell (3) and Ed Bragg (3) with the score on 17-4.

The Notts bowlers kept applying the pressure and soon they were halfway through the visitors batting order when Patterson-White trapped Henry Cullen LBW for 22.

Despite surpassing the 50 mark, three wickets in three overs quashed any chance of a late innings fight back as Worcestershire were reduced to 96-8.

Joey Evison ran out Reeve Evitts from long leg for 22 before Qundeel Haider dismissed Matt Davis (26) the very next over after the pair added 34 between them.

Rohan Hesketh then departed for only a single with Louis Bhabra taking the catch off the bowling of Jordan Cook and Cook also accounted for Seb Smith (4) with a caught and bowled.

The Worcestershire innings was then wrapped up on 118 when Freddie McCann dismissed Charlie Greening for four to seal a 250-run win for the Notts academy.
