The Academy fell to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Lancashire at Ormskirk Cricket Club despite a composed half-century from Chris Gibson.
Gibson made 58 from 105 deliveries but Nottinghamshire fell to 184 all out, a total that the hosts chased down with ease to secure victory.
After winning the toss, captain Sol Budinger (16) stepped out with Lyndon James (15) to begin the Notts innings but both were back in the dressing room with just 42 on the board.
Gibson joined Joey Evison in the middle and the pair rebuilt well, taking the score to 121-2 after 23 overs, before a collapse of five wickets for 25 runs stifled Notts’ momentum.
Liam Patterson-White and Jordan Cook provided some late order resistance but the damage had already been done as the Academy were bowled out inside 44.1 overs.
Ben Panter made the perfect start for the visitors having Ali Chugtai caught behind without scoring and there was a wicket apiece for James, Cook and Patterson-White as Lancashire slipped to 91-4.
However, Nick Greenwood (70*) and Kurtis Watson (32*) shared in an unbroken 94-run stand to seal victory for the hosts with 12.1 overs to spare.
The Academy’s programme continues with their first home fixture of the season, against England Women at Lady Bay, starting at 11am on Wednesday 15th May.
