Luke Fletcher believes that – if the recent triathlon is anything to go by – this could be his toughest pre-season as a professional.

David Lloyd West Bridgford has become a stabled host for the annual tripart tribulation of torment, which has come to form an integral part of the Outlaws’ pre-season fitness regime.

On this occasion, the UK based Nottinghamshire squad members were put through a gruelling grind of 5,000-metre row, 750-metre swim and a 30-kilometre cycle.

“It’s a bit of a love/hate relationship we have with the triathlon,” said Fletcher.

“In some ways, you look forward to it – I do anyway – and in others it’s absolute dread.

“It was a tough triathlon. The hardest one yet – and that’s saying something.

“It was a great effort from the lads to all pull through it, and a decent sense of achievement at the end.

“When the season’s in full swing come the summer, and I’m bowling my 20th over of the day, that – for me – is when all the physical work from the winter comes in handy.

“It’s really important and it’s great to be around the lads with everyone ripping in at this time of year.”
