A late double-strike from Paul Coughlin buoyed Nottinghamshire’s Second XI heading into the final day of their contest against Warwickshire at Lady Bay.
The visitors lost two wickets for five runs late in the day to close on 33-2 in pursuit of 230 for victory.
Openers Yates (14) and Oxley (7) each perished lbw to the former Durham all-rounder late on day three.
Notts had earlier posted 184 all out in their second innings, thanks to contributions from Ben Slater (50), Kashif Ali (33) and Coughlin himself (24).
The former Durham all-rounder made his return from a hamstring injury in the recent Specsavers County Championship fixture against Yorkshire.
Play on the final day of the four-day fixture is due to get underway at 11am.
