Outlaws quick Zak Chappell has joined Gloucestershire on a four-week Vitality Blast loan.

The 22-year-old, who made his Outlaws T20 debut against Lancashire Lightning last week, is available for the West Country Club from today (Tuesday 13 August). He can be recalled by the Outlaws at any time.

“With a combination of injuries and competition for places, Zak has missed out on a lot of first team cricket in his first season with us,” said Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“He is, however, a player we believe will do a terrific job for us in all formats over a long period of time.

“That’s why we brought him to the club and this is a good opportunity for him to get a concerted period of T20 cricket under his belt.

“We’re looking for ways to develop him as a cricketer and give him experiences he can learn from.

“That included handing him his debut at Lancashire last week, and he’ll certainly benefit from some game time down at Gloucestershire.

“He remains, meanwhile, very much in contention for red-ball selection for Notts in our forthcoming fixture against Yorkshire.”

Gloucestershire currently sit fifth in the South Group on nine points having fell to a narrow defeat at the hands of Middlesex on Sunday.

With each of his 14 T20 appearances to date having come in the northern division of the Blast, Chappell is looking forward to testing himself against unfamiliar opposition.

“I really enjoyed my first taste of Outlaws action last Saturday and was proud to receive my T20 cap from Harry Gurney,” said Chappell.

“Hopefully it will be the first of many, and the next thing for me is to show what I can do on-loan at Gloucestershire.

“I’m grateful to them for the opportunity and am looking forward to playing T20 cricket against players I’ve not had the opportunity to face before.”
