Matt Carter took 3-28 and Connor Marshall 2-29 as Nottinghamshire completed a two-wicket win over the local North West Dragons in their latest tour game in South Africa.

The hosts won the toss ahead of the 40-over match but the visiting bowlers were soon in the wickets, with Blatherwick bowling Janneman Malan for 26 and Harry Gurney doing likewise with Shane Dadswell (12).

Matt Milnes then struck and Marshall got stuck into the middle order so that when Carter claimed three quick wickets, the hosts were 130-8.

However, Isaac Dikgale (40 not out) and Johannes Diseko (30 not out) came together to boost the total to 194-8 by the close of their innings.

In reply, Tom Moores fell early, but Luke Wood made 41 from 35 balls, with seven fours, in partnership with Chris Nash (16).

Jake Libby added 18 and Luke Fletcher 22 batting in the middle order before Carter struck three boundaries and a maximum in his run-a-ball 49, supported by Milnes (15), Marshall (19 not out) and Jake Blatherwick (16 not out).

Those lower order runs boosted Notts to 218-8 as they carried on past the total needed for victory to get in some welcome extra batting practice.

The team are next in action when they play a limited overs match against Yorkshire tomorrow.
