Liam Patterson-White made important contributions with bat and ball to help Nottinghamshire Seconds complete Trophy victory over neighbours Derbyshire at Long Eaton’s Trent College.
Frist the spinner took 2-58 to assist pace bowler Matt Milnes (4-31) as the hosts, who were put in to bat, made 256-8 from their 50 overs.
Then, with Notts in difficulty at 173-6, Patterson-White (46 not out) teamed up with Jake Libby (61 not out) to put on an unbeaten 84 and guide his team to victory by four wickets.
Derbyshire were soon in trouble at 24-2 as first Harvey Hosein (7) presented Solomon Budinger with an easy catch at square leg while James Kettleborough was bowled by Matt Milnes.
Callum Brodrick (34) and Thomas Wood (72) came together to put on 84 before the partnership was broken by Patterson-White as the former was bowled.
Patterson-White also accounted for top scorer Wood, who was caught by keeper Tom Keast with the score on 158-4, but former Notts player Anuj Dal continued to score well despite losing Scott Palombo (1) who was trapped lbw by Matt Milnes.
Dal (60) eventually perished as he was taken at mid-off by Libby from Kamau Leverock’s bowling while Matthew Sonczak was a third victim by Milnes.
Hamidullah Qadri (33) moved the score along until he was caught on the mid-wicket boundary by Blatherwick, giving Milnes a fourth wicket.
William Davis (15 not out) and James Taylor (4 not out) then batted out the remaining overs.
Openers Solomon Budinger (63) and Luke Wood (36) got Notts off to a flying start as they put on 77 for the first wicket in quick time.
Budinger went next as he was caught by Dal at point off Davis, while trialist Saad Ashraf (25) was bowled by the same player.
After facing only one ball, Chris Gibson was run out without scoring before Tom Keast (13) was held at mid-off by Thomas Wood from Mohammad Azarullah’s bowling.
When Leverock was castled by Qadri, Notts looked up against it, but Patterson-White and Libby had other ideas, with the former hitting a four to complete the job in the 48th over.
