Tom Moores had quite an eventful day, helping Nottinghamshire postpone a seemingly inevitable defeat against Yorkshire at Headingley.

The young ‘keeper batsmen admitted that the hosts have been very good this week.

“It didn’t go quite the way we wanted. There were periods of the game where we had windows of being able to swing the game our way but credit to them. They played well at the back end of their innings with that last wicket partnership."

Notts picked up three cheap wickets when play properly got under way after lunch on the third day.

“The way we started was unbelievable with Harry (Gurney) getting those wickets, he’s been unbelievable and had a great start to the season.

"But with the batting we just had a few starts and some lads got good balls, so credit to Yorkshire because they’ve batted and bowled well.”

Moores was at the crease as the game moved beyond 7pm and into a requested extra half hour, a new experience for the left-handed batsman.

“I’ve not had that before. It was tricky and felt like a lose-lose situation and you can’t really win because it is getting darker and getting later.

"We thought we were there then it came on us that we had to survive for an extra half an hour. It wasn’t ideal so we just tried to stick in.”

Earlier in the day Moores took two stunning catches during the Yorkshire second innings, both athletic leaps.

“They are the ones you dream about as a keeper” he revealed. “I loved every minute out there and to catch those off Bally and Fletch, they are the ones that you love to take and  hope they stick.

"I hope to be able to watch them back again and again and again. I think Pipey (physio James Pipe) has put some springs in my boots.

“With my old man (Head Coach Peter Moores), as a kid, I used to go on the trampoline and dive around and take the best catch I could, so I remember practising them and today that hard work paid off.”
