Nottinghamshire are about to embark on the new 2018 season, where they are back in Specsavers County Championship Division One after a one-year hiatus. In the lead-up to it, trentbridge.co.uk is running the rule over their seven opponents, one each day – with a little bit of help from left-arm seamer Harry Gurney. Today our final focus is on Surrey.
Captain: Rory Burns.
Head Coach: Michael Di Venuto.
Championship overseas player: None, after an injury to Mitchell Marsh (Australia), but Virat Kohli (India) a reported target.
Championship signings: Morne Morkel (South Africa, Kolpak).
Ground: Kia Oval.
Betting odds: 4-1.
Harry says: The Oval is always a tough ground to go and win at, as they play well in their own conditions, albeit with a fair share of games ending in a draw there. They are quite a young and dynamic team, but also have some experience and tend to have a big-name overseas player, so it will be interesting to see who they recruit as we move into the start of the new season.”
