Nottinghamshire Seconds were beaten by 119 runs after being bowled out for a second innings 159 on the final day of their County Championship clash with Leicestershire.

Declarations from each side at Lady Bay saw the hosts set 279 to win from 64 overs, but they fell well short against a visiting attack who shared the wickets around.

Notts declared their first innings on their overnight score of 220-4, giving Leicestershire a first innings lead of 115 runs,

That lead was rapidly extended as openers Sam Evans, who made 65 not out, and Tom Wells, who scored 44, put on exactly 100 for the first wicket.

Adam Ball chipped in with 21 while Rob Sayer was unbeaten on 23 not out when Leicestershire declared on 163-3 and lunch was taken. Riecko Parker-Cole, Jordan Cook and Louis Bhabra took a wicket apiece for Notts.

In pursuit of their victory target, the home side were always in trouble once the first wicket fell with 35 on the board.

Four Notts players passed and seven reached double figures, but none could go on to get the type of score needed to put their team in the frame as Leicestershire took wickets at regular intervals.

Cook top scored with 27 as six different visiting bowlers took a wicket as Notts were dismissed in 52 overs.
