Greg Smith led the way with a century as Nottinghamshire’s Second XI beat Northamptonshire by 23 runs at Bedford yesterday.
Smith’s 103 not out provided the bedrock of the visitors’ 50-over total of 217-9 after captain Brendan Taylor won the toss and elected to bat first.
Luke Wood (8.2-2-15-4) and Billy Root (10-0-32-4) then shared eight wickets as Northamptonshire were all out for 194 with ten deliveries remaining in their innings.
