Jake Libby and Brett Hutton showed all their class to dominate with bat and ball respectively as the Seconds enjoyed the best of the first day of their Championship clash against Durham at Emirates Riverside.
After losing the toss at the beginning of the day, Hutton set about ripping apart the hosts’ batting line up, taking 7-44 from 15 overs to see Durham bowled out for just 118.
Libby strode to the crease with sights set on a substantial first innings lead, but lost partners at frequent intervals at the other end.
However, the captain found ample lower order support to reach his century, eventually dismissed for 114 after guiding his side to 201 all out, a first innings lead 83.
There was still time for one over of Durham’s seconds innings, in which the hosts managed four runs to finish day one on 4-0.
