Stuart Broad has been ruled out of Nottinghamshire's day-night Specsavers County Championship match with Kent which starts on Monday (2pm) - but is hopeful he can play at Lord's in the Royal London One-Day Cup final on Saturday July 1.
The England seamer was forced off the field with a bruised left heel on Wednesday after bowling just one over in the second innings of the Club's three-day victory over Leicestershire.
Broad has undergone an assessment to ascertain the extent of the damage, but it is not clear yet if he will be back for the showpiece final against Surrey.
He will also hope to be fit to play for England against South Africa, also at Lord's, starting on Thursday 6 July.
Nottinghamshire's Head Coach, Peter Moores, said: "Stuart has been assessed by the medics over the last 24 hours. They have ruled him out of the Kent game for him to keep getting treatment, and then we'll wait to see how he responds to that treatment.
"I think he was really looking forward to playing in the Kent game. He knows it's a big game for us in the season and he's been very much a part of the team for much of the last three months.
"Stuart has been around the block enough to know that's the way it is. He's got some pain and he's got a lot of cricket coming up so it needs sorting out. It's already started to settle and we'll have to see how it goes over the next four or five days."
Broad has played five Specsavers County Championship matches for Nottinghamshire this summer, taking 16 wickets at 20.87.
The 30-year-old has also played 10 Royal London One-Day Cup matches, capturing 10 wickets.
Moores added: "He's desperate to play in the final, as you'd expect, and it's been fantastic to have him with us with the commitment he has shown to the club.
"We're all hoping it's going to be OK. He will do everything he can to be, and now we just have to be patient and see how it turns out."
