Notts Outlaws’ T20 wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Moores smashed an unbeaten 107 not out playing for Attenborough to hasten defeat for Notts Academy in the Nottinghamshire Premier League on Saturday.
Playing against players who are often team-mates, the 20-year-old hit 13 fours and five sixes from just 66 balls.
That saw Attenborough cruise to a five-wicket victory with 12.5 overs to spare as they scored 223-5 in reply to the Academy’s 219 all out.
Louis Kimber, who scored 46 and Hassan Chaudry, who made 27, both made promising starts, but neither could go on to convert into big scores. It was the same for Liam Patterson-White, 42, and Tom Keast, 30, who at least carried the visitors past the 200 mark.
Dominic Harvey, who finished with 6-45 off 9.5 overs, was the pick of the Attenborough bowlers.
The Academy had the hosts in trouble at 58-3 and 88-4, but once Moores joined forces with Harvey to put on a stand of 103, the result was never in doubt.
Connor Marshall took 3-24 as the most successful of the Academy’s bowlers.
