An innings of 92 from Chris Gibson helped Nottinghamshire seconds fight back strongly on a rain-affected second day of their County Championship match with Leicestershire at Lady Bay.
Wet weather prevented any play taking place before lunch, with play finally starting at 1.46pm after the visitors declared on their overnight total of 335-7.
But when the action did get underway, Gibson demonstrated he was in fine form in striking 10 boundaries in a 158-ball knock, despite losing opening partner Tom Keast for 5, who was bowled by Dieter Klein.
Together with Anuj Dal, a second-wicket partnership yielded 116 either side of another rain delay that prompted an early tea.
Dal eventually edged Zak Chappell to keeper Harry Swindells for 43 and his replacement Will Fraine soon followed for 4, caught at deep backward square leg by Sam Evans off the same bowler.
Gibson then became a third victim of Chappell, who took 3-23, but Connor Marshall, who made 21 and Lyndon James, who scored 31, combined to put on an unbeaten 56 and see Notts through to the close.
They finished on 220-4 from the 66 overs of play possible ahead of today’s final day.
