Having helped Nottinghamshire to an emphatic innings victory over Sussex, James Pattinson is relishing performing in partnership with his fellow fast bowlers.

The quartet of of Pattinson, Stuart Broad, Jake Ball and Luke Fletcher were all amongst the wickets as Nottinghamshire secured their third consecutive victory against Sussex on Saturday.

Harry Gurney didn’t feature in the match despite taking 13 wickets at an average of 16 during the first-class season prior – and the homegrown trio of Brett Hutton, Luke Wood and Ben Kitt are waiting in the wings.

Pattinson has nothing but praise for his county teammates.

“It’s been a fantastic start by all the boys,” he said. “We’ve managed to bounce back this year with three wins out of three.

“To bowl with players like Stuart, Bally and Fletch, who I’ve known for a long time, it’s great to come over here and perform with some good friends and play with some really experienced cricketers.

“I never thought I’d be opening the bowling with Stuart Broad, but I’m really grateful for the opportunity to come over here and play for Nottinghamshire.

“Trent Bridge is a fantastic ground and the crowd was fantastic over the two days against Sussex.”

As attention turns to the Royal London One-Day Cup for the upcoming month, Pattinson - who has been selected by Australia for the ICC Champions Trophy - is aiming to carry his form into the new competition.

“I haven’t played much white ball cricket since the Big Bash, so I’m looking forward to getting back into that,” he said.

“Hopefully we can put in some good performances in that competition now.

“It’s going to be ideal preparation for me playing white ball cricket over here (in the Champions Trophy).

“We have a really strong one-day team on paper here at Nottinghamshire.

“We are attacking with our batting and have some good bowlers, so hopefully we can start well in the one-day competition and continue our success from the four-day arena.”
