Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball has been named as James Anderson's replacement in England's squad for the upcoming Test series in Bangladesh.

Ball, who has already been named in his country's One-Day International squad for the tour, as well as for England Lions' trip to Dubai this winter, made his Test debut against Pakistan at Lord's earlier this summer.

The newly-crowned player of the season took 64 wickets across all formats for Nottinghamshire, and Director of Cricket Mick Newell reaffirmed his belief that Ball can continue to push for international honours.

“I’m thrilled for him,” said Newell.

“Naturally we’re disappointed for James, but Jake has been bowling incredibly well and he’s been in and around England squads this summer.

“It’s up to him to keep pushing this winter, and who knows what’s next for him.”
