Tom Moores and Dominic Brown each posted half-centuries as a young Nottinghamshire Second XI traded blows with Lancashire in Liverpool.
Two late wickets for Ben Kitt, following-up his six wicket haul for the Academy on Saturday, kept the hosts in check at 155-4 by the close, Notts having earlier been bowled out for 204.
Lancashire won the toss and elected to field at Aigburth before two early wickets for former Leicestershire paceman Nathan Buck left the visitors reeling at 33-3.
Moores counter-attacked with 12 boundaries in his 92 ball 63 at number five. Brown also kept the scoreboard ticking in moving to 58 off 93 but, once they were dismissed, there was little resistance from the tail with young seamer Gavin Griffiths collecting figures of 4-34.
Academy paceman Jack Blatherwick and Australian trialist Trent Lawford collected a wicket apiece of go with Kitt’s double strike, however an unbeaten 76 from Rob Jones left Notts in need of early breakthroughs on day two.
