Chris Read has suffered a hand injury, which will prevent him from keeping wicket for the remainder of the current match against Hampshire.
The Nottinghamshire Captain took a blow during the latter stages of the second day and will retire hurt on his overnight score of eight not out. He will, however, bat again if necessary later in the fixture.
Further investigations into the extent of the injury will take place upon the team’s return from Southampton.
Steven Mullaney will take charge of the side in the field during Hampshire’s second innings with Riki Wessels taking the gloves.
Notts will commence day three at the Ageas Bowl on 99-5 in reply to Hampshire’s 270 all out.
