As well as the explosive action on the field, Friday night fixtures in the NatWest T20 Blast at Trent Bridge are becoming increasingly synonymous with healthy crowds and families basking in the evening sun.

Notts batsman Michael Lumb has played T20 cricket around the world, and the left-hander believes the Outlaws have creating a family atmosphere down to a tee.

“Trent Bridge has a wonderful family atmosphere; it is a great place to play and everyone is very welcoming,” said the powerful left-hander.

“We want to get youngsters down here, get them following and playing the game and if we, as players, can help do that then that would be great.

“In T20 cricket the guys always play with a smile and the game is enjoyable and exciting.

“For the youngsters to see us having fun is crucial, they look at us and think that they too can go and give it a crack.

“We want to introduce the game to as many new people as possible, bring new faces to the crowd and hopefully get a lot of people down to support us.”

The Outlaws begin their T20 campaign against 2014 Champions the Birmingham Bears, with the hosts looking to replicate the victory they achieved in the corresponding fixture in 2015.

Lumb believes the game marks a big occasion in the cricketing calendar for the entire Outlaws squad.

“Hopefully we get some good weather on Friday and a crowd full of youngsters and families who can get behind the team,” he said.

“All the boys love playing at Trent Bridge and are all really excited for the start of the T20 campaign.

“Young kids come down, get dressed up and love the buzz of the game and hopefully there are plenty there doing that on Friday.”
