Ben Kitt’s 5-65 set Nottinghamshire Academy on their way to a four wicket victory over Mansfield Hoisery Mills at Notts Sports Club earlier today.
The in-form fast bowler was the star turn of a bowling effort that reduced the visitors to 198 all out, only for Notts to collapse to 66-6 in reply with Sri Lankan professional Irosh Samarasooriya taking three quick wickets.
The carnage brought together Paul Franks and Connor Marshall - and the duo was equal to the task, notching the required 134 runs for victory without further loss.
Franks scored 78*, reaching his fifty off 70 balls with 4 fours, while Marshall closed with a composed 47* to his name, off 59 balls including two sixes.
The run chase advanced into the final over of the match with three runs required – and Franks waited no time, dismissing the first delivery to the boundary rope to secure the win.
