Nottinghamshire’s Academy were thankful to a guiding hand from Paul Franks as their match against Kimberley Institute ended in a draw.
The 37-year-old, who retired from first class cricket at the conclusion of the 2015 season, posted an obdurate 37 not out from 94 deliveries as the Academy recovered from 62-6 to close on 154 with no further loss.
Liam Patterson-White scored an unbeaten 46 after Tom Moores had earlier posted 22, as Dominic Brown’s five-wicket haul proved to be in vain for a Kimberley side that had earlier amassed 272-3.
Kitt, Blatherwick and Bhabra had earlier taken one wicket apiece for a hapless Nottinghamshire attack, which was undone by Sam Johnson’s explosive 133 off 112 deliveries, with Dominic Brown adding 58.
