A sensational hundred from Tom Moores guided Nottinghamshire to a four-wicket Trophy victory over Durham at Lady Bay.
Moores, who has recently turned out for Lancashire in the NatWest T20 Blast during his loan spell, needed just 21 balls to go from 50 to 100, and 26 to go from 100 to 150, as he flayed the Durham attack to all parts as the hosts rounded out an emphatic victory with 10.1 overs to go.
At the start of the day, captain Dan Christian won the toss and put Durham into bat first, Ben Kitt immediately striking as Adam Hickey was caught behind for six.
Phil Mustard (67) and Calum MacLeod (70) then added 109 for the second wicket before Connor Marshall removed the former, Dominic Brown with the running catch at short third man.
Irish trialist Tyrone Kane removed Stuart Poynter for nine and when MacLeod fell to the bowling of Sam Wood (2-21), Durham were well set on 185-4.
Mark Wood, continuing his comeback from injury, smashed four maximums in a 30-ball 38 but Durham’s innings petered out to 244-8 from their 50 overs.
Nottinghamshire’s reply got off to a rapid start as Wood and Moores traded early boundaries before the former fell for a quickfire 26.
The wickets of Billy Root and Dan Christian followed in quick succession before Moores was joined by Will Gidman, the pair adding a match-winning 143 for the fourth wicket.
With Gidman (39) providing support from the other end, Moores accelerated through the gears, striking five sixes and three fours in his blitz from 50 to 100, as the century landmark came off just 85 balls.
The left-hander only needed a further 26 balls to go to 150, and when he eventually perished for 155, he had 12 fours and ten maximums to his name during his remarkable 117-ball knock.
Nottinghamshire cantered to a four-wicket win with over ten overs to go as Kane marked his Second XI debut by hitting the winning runs off Sandhu, the two sides remaining at Lady Bay for a three day match starting Tuesday.
