Loughborough MCCU fast-bowler Bobby Gamble snared six wickets as Nottinghamshire’s Academy were all out for 99 en route to a five-wicket defeat against Plumtree.
The 20-year-old paceman, who accounted for Brendan Taylor and Riki Wessels in the first-class fixture at Trent Bridge last month, added Joe New, Anuj Dal, Adam Tillcock, Ben Kitt, Simon Walton and Elliott Bowles to his lift of Nottinghamshire victims in 2015 and finished with figures of 6-19 from 14.4 overs.
Ben Kitt kept Nottinghamshire in the hunt with two early wickets, but Plumtree opener Hasan Azad scored 42 – and former Outlaw Graeme White 18 not out – as the home side won by five wickets.
Plumtree won the toss, elected to field, threw the ball to Gamble and quickly reduced their opponents to 24-4.
Dan Freeman scored 25 and Simon Webster 18 either side of a short rain interval but, of the lower order, only Kitt – who made 16 – managed to pass ten as the Academy failed by one run to post a three figure total.
In reply, Sam Storey was the first Plumtree wicket to fall in the sixth over, edging behind off Simon Webster before Kitt’s two wickets in three overs pegged the score back to 46-3.
Connor Mashall then produced a moment of inspiration to run out Saad Ashraf and make the score 53-4.
The vast experience of White ensured that there was no further panic. And, by the time Azad was caught by Connor Marshall off Bowles, the home side had moved to within 15 of victory – a win they completed in the 29th over with Matt Milnes unbeaten on six.
