Nottinghamshire’s seconds secured a battling draw on the final day of their Second Eleven Championship match with Worcestershire as the batsmen produced a backs-to-the-walls effort at Notts Sports Club.
The visitors resumed the final day on 240-5, a lead of 347, with Oliver Westbury 104* and Calvin Dickinson not out on eight.
The pair looked for quick runs to set up a declaration but Dickinson was caught in the first over of the day for 13 by Chris Woakes off Adam Tillcock.
Ben Twohig came to the crease but could only add one, Connor Marshall removing the Worcestershire batsmen to reduce the visitors to 253-7.
In the 67th over, Tillcock added another morning wicket, bowling Westbury for 111 before Liam Smith and Darrel Williams both added six not out to the score, Worcestershire declaring on 265-8, a lead of 372.
The visitors’ bowlers came out of the blocks quickly, taking two wickets before rain brought a premature end to the morning session.
Jake Libby was caught at first slip off Ross Whiteley before Will Root edged behind off Liam Smith for three, Notts going to lunch on 38-2.
Anuj Dal and Will Gidman batted conservatively after the break, taking the score up to 67 before the former was bowled by Ed Barnard for 37.
Woakes joined Gidman and the pair saw their side to the tea break without any further loss, both batsmen unbeaten on 44 by the interval.
Gidman was an early loss in the final session, bowled with the first ball of the 42nd over, Notts moving to 156-4.
However that was the last of the worries for the hosts as Woakes and Tom Moores guided their side to a gutsy draw.
The day was eventually ended by bad light and rain, Notts finishing on 241-4 with Woakes 93* and Moores 36*.
