Fifties from Jake Libby and Greg Smith were the highlights of a rain shortened second day of Nottinghamshire Seconds’ friendly with Derbyshire at Notts Sports Club.
Resuming the day on 51-0, openers Smith and Libby had to wait until 4:30pm before they could build on an impressive first day.
Captain Smith wasted no time in getting back in to his stride and completed his half-century off 86 balls and in the process taking the first-wicket partnership past 100.
However, he fell shortly after reaching his milestone, bowled by Tommy Taylor for 54 bringing Sam Wood to the middle.
His stay was a short one though, Taylor striking in the same over to remove the left hander for four, Notts moving to 105-2.
Will Root joined Libby with the latter going to his fifty and the hosts declared soon after on 132-2 with Libby 52* and Root unbeaten on eight.
With nine overs left in the day Derbyshire commenced their second innings with a lead of 126.
Openers Ben Slater (9*) and George Sellers (4*) safely negotiated their way to the close, adding 13 to take their lead to 139.
