Nottinghamshire's second eleven secured victory in the first of their two SET20 fixtures against Derbyshire before the second game was abandoned due to rain.
Derbyshire were asked to bat first and they opened with Tom Knight and Tom Wood who made a solid start reaching 53 by the 7th over.
However, that was when Knight (24) was the first to fall, stumped by Matt Cross off Sam Wood's bowling before Adam Tillcock then removed Wood for 33 in the 10th over to leave the score on 72-2.
Paul Borrington (15) was the next to fall as Sam Wood (2-25) picked up his second wicket. Peter Drysdale and Greg Cork then saw the away side past 100 before the former was stumped off Matt Roberts for 15 in the 14th over.
Cork continued to push Derbyshire up to a competitive total and it was his 28* that ensured they set 146-5 in their allocated 20 overs.
In reply, Nottinghamshire seemed to struggle at the start losing Sam Kelsall (11) bowled by Ben Cotton in the 3rd over.
Cotton struck twice more; Sam Wood (0) caught Matt Higginbottom in the 5th and Matt Cross (11) lbw in the 7th over as the score dropped to 28-3.
Adam Tillcock joined South African trialist Farhaan Behardien, who has represented his country in both T20’s and ODI’s, and they brought up the fifty in the 10th over.
They shared in a stand of 49 before Tillcock (17) was run out by Cork in the 13th over with the score on 77-4.
However they had got Nottinghamshire back on course and Will Root joined Behardien and kept up the good work.
Root hit a four to bring up the hundred in the 16th over and they reached the fifty partnership in the 18th with the score at 128-5.
Behardien (58*) reached his fifty in the 19th over and hit a six in the final over to take the side past the target, Root finishing on 39 not out as Notts ran out six-wicket winners.
