Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell has named an unchanged team to face Birmingham Bears in Friday’s NatWest T20 Blast match at Trent Bridge (play starts 6pm).
The Outlaws have lost two of their three home fixtures in the competition so far but Newell, knowing his side can reach the top four with a win, hopes that Friday’s resounding victory at Derbyshire can signal a change in the tide.
“We don’t like losing at home and we’re hopeful that the signs we saw at Derbyshire enable us to put in a more complete performance,” said Newell.
“Harry Gurney and Andy Carter haven’t played red ball cricket this week which should be to their advantage on Friday and there are signs that Alex Hales and Michael Lumb are finding good form.”
Birmingham Bears have taken five points from four games having won two, lost one and suffered an abandonment.
“Birmingham have a good bowling attack and Boyd Rankin is particularly difficult to get away because he bowls aggressively with good pace,” said Newell.
“Their batting is perhaps more workmanlike than ours but we’re mindful of their strengths.”
