Australian batsman Phil Jaques will be included in the Notts Outlaws team to face Leicestershire Foxes on Thursday after Michael Lumb was ruled out through injury.
Jaques, who has played a significant part in Nottinghamshire’s charge to the top of the LV= County Championship table, is yet to feature in the NatWest T20 Blast this season.
The Test veteran has already amassed 583 first class runs for Nottinghamshire this season and is scheduled to appear in two more LV= County Championship matches before his departure.
“We’ve added Phil Jaques to the squad and he has a key role to play at the top of the order,” said Newell.
“He’s been in good form for us this season and we’ve already extended his deal until the first week of July but we expect him to be on his way after that as he’s keen to return to his coaching duties in Australia.”
While Jaques’ inclusion is the only definite change, Luke Fletcher and Sam Kelsall have also been included in a 13-man squad.
