Nottinghamshire seconds fell to an innings defeat to Lancashire in their latest Second Eleven Championship match with Lancashire.
On the final day, Nottinghamshire resumed their second innings on 108-5 having been made to follow on the day before.
Cumbrian trialist Greg Platten (17) and Adam Tillcock (6) were intent on making life hard for the Lancashire bowlers.
They did just that as they reached lunch unscathed with Platten moving on to 49 and Tillcock 28, adding 63 in the session.
The former moved to fifty in the first over after lunch, Tillcock following him to milestone in the 46th over as the score moved to 232-5. Tillcock fell soon after trapped LBW to Andrea Agathangelou without adding to his score to end the partnership of 137.
Brett Hutton joined Platten who reached his century in the 61st over but was out next over for 104, bowled by Mattie McKiernan, the score on 277-7.
The final three wickets were lost for just 14 runs as Newby took the new ball and immediately bowled George Bacon (0) and Ben Phillips (0) in consecutive balls.
In the 67th over Gavin Griffiths had Brett Hutton (27) caught behind by Ashley Gowers to the close the innings on 291.
Luke Wood ended not out on five with Lancashire winning by an innings and three runs, Oliver Newby the pick of the bowlers with 4-36 off 15 overs.
