Trent Bridge has been named in the world’s top five Test cricket grounds in a list published by The Cricketer Magazine.
The home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is one of two English grounds in the top five, alongside Lord’s, with Newlands, Adelaide Oval and Galle also heading the list.
"Trent Bridge is a model of modern reconstruction that has expanded upwards and outwards but sacrificed none of its riverside charm."
A panel of fans and journalists including Wisden Editor Lawrence Booth and TMS presenter Jonathan Agnew debated the relative merits of each ground before publishing the list in the May edition of The Cricketer.
Trent Bridge is described in the piece as a ‘model of modern reconstruction that has expanded upwards and outwards but sacrificed none of its riverside charm’.
The thoughtful redevelopment of Trent Bridge was referenced in Wednesday’s annual general meeting of the MCC in discussions about future development of Lord’s where Nottinghamshire Committee Member and Chair of the Lord’s ground working party Colin Maber and former Chief Executive Derek Brewer will lead a new planning exercise.
“MCC needs to look to the future,” said MCC President Phillip Hodson.
"I want Derek Brewer and Colin Maber, who worked so well together developing Trent Bridge, to produce a development plan dovetailing with the club's strategic plan.”
